Hanging with the roommates
I finished reading "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" yesterday. Now I'm straying away from my Top Books of the 20th century lists to read "Gulliver's Travels," which was published sometime in the 1700's. I'm glad I have time to read so much. I figure when I go back to grad school, I'll be too busy reading boring textbooks to do this, so might as well do it now.
On Sunday afternoon, my roommates threw a graduation barbeque party since two of them got their masters degrees. They prepared so much food expecting around 25 people, but only about 15 showed up. It was a good group though. We had fun chatting in the backyard. There was a mixture of people there. One guy talked politics and the state of society, and some other people were talking about job hunting, and still others talked about Robocop.
Anyway, yesterday I got my haircut at the place across the street from my house. I was pleasantly surprised. I was a little worried because the last time I went to a random place, the woman who cut my hair did a bad job, and it turned out that she cut hair as a hobby after her day job and had only done it for 6 months. So last night when I sat down, I asked my hairdresser how long she's been cutting hair. 4 years she says. Whew.
When I got home, a couple of my roommates were home, so we watched a few episodes of South Park that I got from the library. They were appalled at times at South Park's politically incorrectness, while I sat there laughing out loud. I guess they're not used to it. Only a few episodes still appall me. Scott Tinnerman is one of them. You know, where Cartman tricks him into eating his own parents. That was messed up.

I got my hair cut at a new place yesterday too. The hair cutters were all young girls and the girl that cut my hair graduated from a hs last spring and was cutting hair for a living. She didn't do a bad job though.

The South Park DVD was the Passion of the Jew one with 3 episodes making fun of christianity. Those weren't even that appalling.
