Cape Cod Weekend Part II

Ok, I'm back. Here's the rest of the trip: We took a ferry to Martha's Vineyard Saturday at noon. It was rainy and freezing, really crappy weather. Dan Dan really wanted to rent two person bicycles, but it didn't look like it was going to happen. The plan was to get to Martha's Vineyard and go see a place called "Gay Head" on the west corner of the island. But when we got there, we found out that it was like a $40 cab ride and was in the middle of nowhere. What we should've done was to bring OB's car. We did consider renting a car, and since I was 25, it would be cheaper. But they closed early as did everything on the island. I guess things don't pick up until Memorial Day, but then the crowds would make it crappy.

Anyway, we went to an arcade and played a DDR-like game with drums instead. I totally sucked at that, but it was really fun. Then we had lunch and then went shopping around Oak Bluffs. I got OB a magnet and also a bumper sticker that said, "OB." I asked the store guy, "What does OB stand for?" and he was like, "It's Oak Bluffs. You know, the town you're in right now?" Oops. Anyway, I also wanted to get a Black Dog shirt as sort of a status thing from my childhood, but they were such a ripoff. I mean, I could afford it, but I decided it wasn't worth it. OB surprised me by picking out "the last thing you'd expect to get in a Black Dog store." It turned out to be a stuffed BROWN dog. I wanted to name it Wade, but OB and Dan Dan were very against it. Apparently Wade is the last name of a basketball player they hate. So I said, Ok, you guys can name it, and they came up with Chauncy. So he's Chauncy now. Then we took a cab to Edgartown, or as OB liked to call it, "Edgar Styles town." (24 fans will understand). Everything was cute and quaint, but frustratingly too quaint as everything closed at 6. We asked a waitress and our cab drivers what there was to do on Martha's Vineyard and they all said, "drink" and "party at my house." OB and Dan tried beer from a bar called The News, but they said it was pretty bad. So finally we left Martha's Vineyard and went back to Falmouth.

We had dinner in town and went to Dairy Queen for dessert. Everyone in the car gasped when we spotted Dairy Queen, so we just had to go. Unfortunately, we were all so stuffed from dinner that we couldn't eat it. So we took it back with us. I seriously ate so much while I was there and was so sleepy all the time. It reminded me of when I was in Miami and slept most of the time there and gained 5 pounds. I guess that's what I do on vacations because as soon as I got back to Boston, I couldn't eat that much and was wide awake. Anyway, on Sunday we walked around Falmouth. We had brunch at a cute breakfast place. I bought some of their root beer back with me. It wasn't rainy out, just cloudy, so we sat in the park and played Euchre. On the way back to Boston, we drove in the wrong direction, and the boys were like, "There's another entrance to the highway." As the car turned into the Dairy Queen parking lot, I said, "uhh...where are we going?" which was a perfect precursor to their joke, "here's that entrance we were talking about." So we had DQ again. Yum. Couldn't they just open a branch in Boston already? So what did you all do over the weekend? Feel free to leave a comment. I don't want Evonne to feel lonely in the comment area.
