Willow is Marty

I went to Cambridgeside Galleria after work on Friday to find stuff for my sister as well as window shop for myself. While I was at H&M, I ran into Melanie Jetter, a girl from high school. She went to BU, and the last time I saw her was a brief get-together freshmen year. And here she was, shopping at a store at the exact time I was. So I said hi and we chatted a little. She was telling me about how all her close friends from high school were all married and have kids. Whoa. I'm so not ready for that, and most of my close friends, high school and beyond, are thankfully still single like me. Btw, for all you Montclairians, Melanie is engaged!

Friday night I went to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Is it just me or is Zooey Deschanel a really bad actress? Maybe it's just the Heather Graham syndrome, you know what i'm talking about: the big blue eyes, skinny legs, object of affection for no reason. I never read the book, but people have been telling me that there is no love story in the book, thank you Douglas Adams! Other than that, I thought it was an ok movie. I got a kick out of Willow playing Marty, but with Sheriff of Nottingham's voice. I guess everything was just really random, but I guess that's British humor for you.

On the way out of the theater, we saw a poster for the new movie Batman Begins. Julie asked me, "who's playing Batman? Do we like him?" Yes, Christian Bale is awesome, but why is Katie Holmes on the poster? That's almost as bad as Kirsten Dunst being on the Spiderman 2 poster. At least Katie looks stupid with her mouth hanging open. Not classy like the Gone with the Wind poster.

Julie hated the movie, she had more fun playing Dance Dance Revolution in the theatre's arcade. I got to say, that game is pretty hard to top. I was watching some high school kids playing on normal mode and getting "perfects". Oh man, I can barely do light mode. I think I must be getting old because I can't register all those arrows in my head and move my feet that quickly. My roommates think I just need to practice, but seriously, distinguishing a beat out of euro pop while twisting my feet around like I'm on speed does not seem like skill I can acquire. At the arcade I played a shooting game, but I got a little scared with all those soldiers shooting at me. When I duck behind a rock in the game, I end up ducking in real life too.

Anyway, the orchestra concert was yesterday. We played pretty badly, ensemble-wise we totally bit. But in true conductor style, Mark told us "fabulous job" after. We're playing again tonight at the West End Boys and Girls Club. Yup, that is next door to my old apartment.
