LA
I'm back from my last vacation of the summer. I spent Labor Day weekend in LA with Evonne. I got there about 3:30 on Friday afternoon west coast time, and I just flew red eye back to Boston. The entire weekend was so awesome! I missed shopping with Evonne, and we spent about 2 1/2 days shopping. I also used up the memory card on my camera, but it's mostly full of video footage of her dog Sam.
Shopping was awesome there. Evonne took me to three different Macy's West in 2 days, and we spent 6 hours in an outlet mall. I also finally got to see Kitson. Very disappointing. The place was a mess, and Evonne said most of the boutiques in LA are like that. Piles and piles of clothes. All overpriced, all super trendy. Evonne wanted to get me something there to bring home, but I passed. I can't believe US Weekly gave Kitson so many props. And I didn't recognize any celebrities there. Evonne thinks one of the other shoppers was on America's Next Top Model though.
Here's the non-shopping stuff we did: Saturday I also had a chance to see my cousin Catherine. We had dim sum with some of her friends from LA, and I was excited to find out that one of her friends is the brother of Sammy from Days of Our Lives! Wow! I think I may have embarrassed myself when I said, "Didn't she just have a baby? I read that in US Weekly." Sigh, I'm hopelessly embarrassing. Saturday night we went out to a place called World Caffe for $5 mojitos. On Sunday night we watched Evonne's favorite movie The Parent Trip (old version). Very cute. I was constantly comparing it to the newer Lindsay Lohan version. The old one was definitely better, but I think I liked Dennis Quaid better as the dad. He's better looking than the dad from the old version.
Evonne also introduced me to My Super Sweet Sixteen on MTV. I don't cable anymore, and if I did, I definitely don't watch as much MTV and VH1 as that girl. Anyway, it's amazing to see what spoiled brats the rich girls were. I was disgusted, but slightly intrigued. By the end of the "Amanda" episode, I was desperate to see another one.
Anyway, on Monday we finally took a break from shopping and went to Manhattan Beach. It was so hot and sunny, so we stayed on the beach only for an hour. After we met up for caramel apples and The Coffee Bean with my friend Jake. We chatted, and he really scared me regarding the stats class I plan to take. He says it'll be super hard. Oh shoot, what did I get myself into. Evonne tried to calm me down, but I seriously spazzed. On the way back to her house, she gave me a driving tour through the Hollywood Hills. I saw the sign! Afterwards, we had dinner at the Grove Center where we saw Brandy walking into the movie theater with her friends. Evonne recognized her, but I didn't, so I chased Brandy and then walked back so I could see her. Yup, it was her. Very exciting.
My trip to LA was so fun, but I barely got to do any of the touristy stuff, so I'm already planning my next trip out there. I want to see Jay Leno!

Glad you had a good time in LA. That's cool that you got to see Catherine. How is she doing? That's funny how much you and Evonne went shopping.
