Settlers

I had a great weekend, very tiring though. On Friday, OB and I met up with one of his best friends from high school Raj and Raj's girlfriend for dinner. His friend just moved to Boston, and OB was bummed that Raj just moved as he was leaving. Anyway, we went to the North End for dinner at Pomodoro. Great restaurant, great food, but no bathroom! They said we had to go across the street to Cafe Victoria to use the bathroom, and that place only had one stall for men and one stall for women. On top of that, those bathrooms had to accommodate Cafe Victoria, Pomodoro and Mike's Pastry too. There was such a long line to the ladies room, so Gunjan (Raj's girlfriend) and I snuck over the men's room. Why do girls have to keep doing that?! I mean, I'm not proud of what I did, but it's a necessity!

After dinner, OB and I went back to his house for a party that his roommate threw for his girlfriend's birthday. It was pretty kicking by the time we got there, and the party ended really late. So I pretty much spent the rest of the weekend recuperating and taking naps to make up for not sleeping enough on Friday night.

I went over to OB's house on Saturday to play Taiko Drum Master. I can't believe what a hit this game is. One of OB's roommates, who is obsessed with Warcraft, went and told his girlfriend, "See? OB's girlfriend bought him a video game." She hates me now. Anyway, we all took turns playing for like 3 hours until it was time for the boys to go. They were headed to Sunset and then to their old frat for one last hooray before OB leaves town, and I went home.

Erin and Rob were home, and I invited them to play Settlers of Catan with me. I bought the game and the 5-6 expansion pack on Ebay last week and just received it on Saturday. They've never played before, so the game lasted for like 3 hours. Erin and Rob had a kind of war with each other using the robber, and it got personal. I was amused. After the game, Erin and I watched Mulan together.

The next morning, I got up for church, but was really drowsy. I'm blaming Friday night. I finished Harry Potter 6 and napped after I got home from church for like two hours. (Email me if you read Harry Potter 6, I want to discuss it with someone). I didn't get up until OB called and said he and Ben were going into Davis Square and then would come over my house to play Settlers of Catan. OB knew I wanted to play badly, but didn't know I had just played on Saturday night. I said, come on over, which got my butt out of bed to make mini-feast food. OB, Ben and Carl came, and after we ate mini-feast, we invited Erin and Jamie to play with us. Good thing I had the expansion pack so all 6 of us could play. The game ended up being really long though. I think a normal 4 player game is supposed to last about an hour, but with 6 people playing, it took 3. We were so pooped by the time it ended, but it was fun. I thought having a co-ed group made it more fun, it's one of the things I missed out on by going to a women's college.

After the boys all took off, we roomies watched the rest of Anne of Avonlea together. We all squealed over Gilbert (well, except for Erin). This is one of the things that's not more fun in a co-ed group. Sometimes you just need your girlfriends.

Is Settlers of Catan a board game or a video game? If it's a video game, is it on your PC or Gamecube?

settlers is a board game, but they do make it on computer. I got a catan: the computer game trial disk with the game. Let me know if you want it.
