Must Love Cheese

OB's gone. I spent the last week without internet access and living away from reality. I went with OB to Madison to help him move in to school. We left on Tuesday, and I just flew back last night. We did about 1000 miles of driving with his little yellow car and a U-Haul trailer. Tuesday we drove to Buffalo, NY. Sadly, didn't get a chance to have any wings. Then we drove to his parents house. OB's birthday was on Thursday, and I gave him his final birthday gift: sheet music for Wicked the musical. It's the version in which the piano does not play along with the melody. OB gave me a present too: his fraternity pin. I was surprised and touched. I didn't expect it, and since we're going to be apart, it's a nice reminder that he cares about me and that he expects our relationship to last. (Otherwise, he loses his pin forever, muhahaha). I also bought Carmen Sandiego the computer game while I was there. Remember that game? I loved it as a kid, and I guess since my geography is so bad, I figured it'd be nice to have.

Anyway, we left his parents house on Thursday night and took a very rocky ferry across Lake Michigan. Thank God for Dramamine, I was pretty much passed out. Otherwise, you'd know I'd be throwing up all over the place. We finally got to his apartment in Madison. It's close to the Capitol and State Street, but kind of a hike from campus. Anyway, OB got me Wisconsin lacrosse shorts as a memento with a cute little badger patch on the front. OB thinks it's funny that I think the badger is cute because the badger actually looks pissed off and ready to beat the shit out of someone. Very appropriate for football I guess.

Anyway, I spent my time in Madison walking around State Street, walking around his campus, helping OB move in, and eating eating eating. There were two memorable dishes I had. One was Mac & Cheese with real Wisconsin cheddar shredded on top. You stir it into the macaroni and it goos like crazy. The second thing was deep fried pickles at this place called Ella's Deli. The place was a Jewish deli, and it was decorated like a funhouse with clowns and toys all over the place. There was even a merry-go-round at the front. OB and I also unpacked a lot of his boxes and took trips to Target and Office Max to buy furniture. A word of advice to anyone who's moving: keep all your furniture. It's such a pain to buy new furniture you already own now. Keep your garbage cans and your laundry baskets too. I was originally going to get rid of a lot of my furniture when I move for graduate school, but instead, I think I'll just get a bigger truck and keep everything.

I flew back home yesterday. It's really weird being back because I know that my home life has changed too now that OB is away. I'm so used to having him around and it became part of the way my life was. Now it's totally different. But hopefully, I will be able to focus on my applications and stats class. And lucky for me, I have great friends here. Though I definitely could do without the humidity.

Anyway, when I got back last night, my roommate and I saw "Must Love Dogs." And I spent the rest of the night playing Carmen Sandiego and trying out Donkey Konga for Game Cube. My first impression review is that the game is not as good as Taiko Drum Master, but it's still pretty fun.

Glad that you got back safely. Congrats on the stats class. Looks like my band is playing a few songs next weekend.
