VonTrapp Family Drummers
Before I talk about the weekend, I have to relate three exceptional service people I encountered on Thursday night. The first was the shoe salesman John at Filenes. He got the shoes I requested and said, "let me know if you need anything else." I wanted to make a phone call and didn't have reception, so as I was walking away from the shoe department, the salesman followed me and said, "You need reception? Follow me." He took me to the backroom of the store, where all the shoes were and then said, "I told you to ask me if you needed anything." Another shoe salesman joked with me and pretended a shoe was a phone. Then later, I wanted to go to Target and took a bus from my house. I asked the bus driver to stop at Target and sat down. We just passed Target and stopped at the closest bus stop and the driver joked and said, "You thought I forgot about you, didn't I?" I thanked him and left. Finally, the bus driver on the way back from Target was also great. I was arguing on the phone with my sister, and as I got off the bus, the driver gave me a sympathetic smile and said, "Relationships are hard." I thanked him and left. What an exceptional day of finding exceptional service people!
Anyway, I went home to my parents this weekend. I brought home Donkey Konga, and my brother and I played right away. My dad was really amused by the game. I left the room for something and came back and found my dad playing the game! It was so funny! My mom refused to play because she was afraid we'd all laugh at her, and she knew that she'd be confused with the distinction between right and left. I also overheard her tell my sister's husband that I like the game because I'm a monkey (Chinese zodiac) and so, I like monkey things. At the end of the weekend, I encouraged my brother to buy Taiko Drum Master fo PS2, and since there's no right and left, my mom wanted to play. Actually, we all played, including my sister's husband Jay who was surprisingly good. My parents kept saying how smart the game was and how it was good teaching rhythm.
While I was at home, I also had some fresh corn from the farm stand, it was awesome. And my dad grilled steak for me. And he bought me peaches and a watermelon just because I asked for it. And I had those toasted almond good humor ice cream bars too. I love how they feed me well when I go home.
Actually, the reason I went home this weekend was to support my brother's christian coffee house at the church. His band performed, they were very folksy. It was nice, though I wish I had a couch to sit in.

We thought about bringing out the couches from the choir room, but we decided that it took too much effort for such a short event.
I also traded in all my sports games on Monday morning to buy Donkey Konga. So now we have both.
