I'm 41

There is a blood drive at work today. Last time I tried to give, I was rejected because my iron was low. It kinda worried me because I eat a lot of meat, and so, I should have a lot of iron. So for today's blood drive, I prepared myself. I took vitamins, and I stuffed my face with barbeque. And wouldn't you know it, my iron level is 41, which is way above average for a woman. My questionnaire person was very proud of me. My eczema almost thwarted me, but then they agreed that I could give. Hooray! I'm worthy. And a nice benefit (though not why I donate) is that I got a 1/2 day off from work for donating.

My questionnaire person was really nice and funny. He teased me and called me his future wife. It turns out that besides working for the Ameircan Red Cross, he's also an actor, a DJ and a comedian. Then I went to his boss to actually donate the blood, and he was right, she never smiles and was altogether nasty. When she put the belt around my arm to look for a vein, I made a comment about how it's easy to find my veins because I'm so veiny. If any of you have seen my arms and legs, you'll know that there's blue streaks. Then later when she came back and said I was filling the bag quickly, I said, "really?" and she said, "Yeah, your bragging about your veins can explain that." Eww.
