Anyway...

Writing about my life, but mostly about nothing. Expect drastic subject changes with the word "anyway."

This is Patrick...your boss

So I went to the Red Sox game last night. It was pouring rain and thundering earlier in the day, and I was hoping and praying for nice evening weather or at least a rained out game so I don't have sit at the game, freezing and wet. We were lucky. The weather really cleared up and we had beautiful weather for most of the game. Anyway, they started late because they were clearing the tarp off the field. Annie, Carol and Julie joined me for the game. It was my first game of the season, damn scalpers make it impossible to buy tickets. I managed to buy tickets through work.

Right before the game started, I get a phone call from a strange (617) number. So I answer it and the person says, "Hi Christine, it's Todd." And I'm like, "Who?" And he says, "It's Todd," and I'm thinking, "I don't know a Todd. Maybe I'm misunderstanding." Then he says, "This is Todd...your boss." Then I realized stupidly that he said, "This is Patrick..your boss." Oops. He's never called me before, but he was testing out the numbers for the phone calling chain. I went to see him today to apologize for not hearing him and explain where I was. And he told me that his wife overheard from the next room and got a good laugh out of it.

Ok, so the game started. In the very first inning, the A's score. Crap. This is bad. The Sox ended up losing 6-2. It seemed to me that the A's scored easily with 0 outs or 1 out, and every time the Sox scored, there was a sacrifice hit. Sigh. Then in the final inning, I think it was Bill Mueller, hits a home run. I'm sitting in the bleachers and saw it close up. It hit the roof thingie over the bleachers and fell back onto the field. All the fans are going crazy and twirling their fingers in big circles to let Mueller know to run all the way around, but the refs called it only a double. Very disappointing. They would've lost anyway, but it would've been nice to get that last homerun that belonged to us.

at least he didn't say, "i need you come into work right now". my old boss(es) wouldn't think twice to make that kind of request.
