Anyway...

Writing about my life, but mostly about nothing. Expect drastic subject changes with the word "anyway."

Hello?

Anybody still reading my blog? Add a comment if you are! Anyway, here's another long overdue update on what's going on. School's going well. I just finished all four of my midterms last Monday. One class had two midterms. For a 10 week course, that's just cruel. Some of you don't know me in the student context, but I tend to spend a lot of time studying, so that means I'm behind on everything else. Oh well. Another catch up weekend this weekend.

Anyway, today was a good day even with only 5 hours of sleep last night. (I can't operate with less than 6 1/2). During lunch today, I hosted three prospective students. I have to say, I'm a pretty darn good rush worker. I guess it was all the practice I had rushing for Skullhouse. I think I gave them pretty good information. Another prospective who wasn't sitting at my table approached me after to get the same information I had given the others. not bad eh? I am considering applying for Admit Weekends co-chair.

So I'm in hardcore conflict in my head with what b-school is teaching me about career stuff and what I really believe. Today I had a seminar on interviewing, and basically, they were teaching us how to prepare speeches to answer popular questions. I felt like it was so boring just talking about work and what i learned from my job. But they discouraged me from talking about personal stuff. Then later they said a lot of recruiters ask for multiple answers on a question to throw you off. My impression is that they do that to try to get to know the real you. To me, that means they don't really like the rehearsed nonsense. I guess I can understand why they teach us what they do. They want us to at least sound polished at the risk of making us all cookie cutter applicants. But the applicants still get offers so they're probably doing something right.

Academically things are going peachy. One of my assignments was to run a regression of my choice and analyze it. I chose weekend movie tickets sales on the number of theaters showing. Ok, so my writeup was very academic, but I surprisingly had a lot of fun writing it because I was interested in the topic. See? I can do the crazy quantitative analyses, and the difference between enjoyment and hate is just my interest in the subject. So i realize I can't settle for an internship in something like healthcare companies or financial services. i got to stick with industries I care about.
