Anyway...

Writing about my life, but mostly about nothing. Expect drastic subject changes with the word "anyway."

I'm back to blogging

Ok, Julie has put me to shame. She has practically caught up to my blog's number of entries, and she just started hers. So I'm back with a quick update. The goodbye to Boston was very very stretched out. Had a few goodbye lunches at work and a goodbye dinner. Don't miss work at all. It was much harder saying goodbye to my friends. Julie threw me a farewell dinner, complete with homecooking! It was really fun, and super sweet of her to go through all that trouble for me. Carl and Aaron were super duper helpful helping me move stuff into the moving pod. I almost cried thinking that none of my stuff would fit, but thank God, Carl is very good at Tetris. The last few days in Boston were kind of weird. I guess it didn't hit me that I won't be going back.

Then to Vegas for Lanny's wedding. Amazingly, my last name appeared on my placecard. The original wedding invitation said, "Onur Usmen and Christine." Lanny squeezed my ass in college and it took him this long to know my last name. Oh well. The wedding was fun, especially the steak dinner at Lawry's (yes, that's Lawry's of Lawry's seasoned salt). I stayed at the Barbary Coast Hotel, which is tiny compared to the other hotels/casinos. The beginning of the weekend I gambled and lost. Happily, on Sunday Jane encouraged me to catch a Cirque du Soleil show. We saw Mystere at Treasure Island. I'm so grateful that I got to do something cool like that, and not just waste my time losing more money gambling. I didn't lose too much though, and at the very very end of the weekend, I won some of it back. I can't complain.

Then I spent the next week in Madison with OB. He had work every day, so I occupied myself finishing the paperwork for school and walking to State Street. I think I was pretty productive. Thanks to OB, the move went smoothly. I'm lucky I have people to help me. I've spent the last week slowly unpacking (Holy crap, I own a lot of stuff) and buying stuff for the apartment. Today my new used couch and desk were delivered, so it looks almost done now. I just have a couple more boxes to go. Good thing I have 5 closets. I've also been making new friends. I hung out with some GSBers last night, and I have three classmates in my neighborhood. I consider myself lucky. My parents are coming to visit at the end of the month. I hope they like my place! Next task is to buy a new used car. I visited a couple places in the past few days. One was particularly pushy. They've been calling me day after day bugging me to take the car I looked at. Dude, if you'll drop the price more, then we can talk. Otherwise, piss off. Wish me luck! I'm going to venture into the 'burbs next.
