Poor OB!!!

I had a nice weekend. I was afraid I'd run out of stuff to do or I'd spend money unnecessarily, but I came out ok. On Friday night, I met up with my roommates and their friends at Limelight Boston, which is a karaoke studio. They have private rooms like Asian karaoke and then they have an open stage. The open stage area was much cheaper at $5 for the whole night, and it wasn't crowded so we hung out there. Throughout the night, it didn't get very crowded, so our group sang a lot. I think the star of the night was one of Erin's friends Darby, who used to sing in a rock band. He was so good, singing in a high voice like Axel Rose. I think the karaoke DJ loved him because he made Darby the grand finale. I had a lot of fun, but I realized that I still have stage fright. I need to work on that.

I also saw Batman Begins, which I really enjoyed. I saw it with Jamie, who was getting a little squeamish at some of the scenes. It's not so bad if you're desensitized to violence like me. I'm only squeamish at some realistic dramas or real video like that Vietnam video where a soldier shot a guy in the head. Anyway, I was afraid I'd hate Batman because of Katie Holmes, but she wasn't trying to be all cutsie like Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman (I HATE HER!!!), and Katie barely screamed. And I also really like Christian Bale, all the way from his Empire of the Sun days. The plot was good too, and the Memento director stayed away from the glitz that made the Batman franchise start sucking. I recommend it.

Sunday I was trying not to spend money because I need to save money for my trip next weekend. So I took a nap to try to avoid going out, but I woke up at 3:30 and still had plenty of time before the stores close. Uuugh, thwarted! So I caved and headed over to Best Buy at Cambridgeside to "look for a photo printer for my Dad," (but really to have an excuse to go to the mall to shop for me). Carl, OB's roommate, called me almost as soon as I got there and told me OB really hurt himself playing basketball and was on his way to the hospital. Poor OB! So I took the bus to Somerville Hospital to see OB. He dislocated his ankle and after it was accidentally knocked back into place by the medic, his ankle started swelling like crazy. It looked like there was a tennis ball inside his ankle. And from what I heard from Carl, OB was so brave, cracking jokes even though he was in pain. Anyway, the doctor came in and said that he had a severe sprained ankle and needed to be on crutches for the next 4-6 weeks. It's weird for me to see him hurt and helpless. I always think he's so strong, but he's really a wimp like me. :)

Wow. Sorry to hear about OB's injury. Was Batman's violence gorry or was it more like comic book violence where you don't really see anything and no one dies?

So we're coming up 4th of July weekend. I want to do something fun...

Comic book violence. I think my roommate just has a low threshold for movie violence because she doesn't watch many movies. Some people die, but it's like PG dying where you don't see anything.
