Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone! It's funny when you see or hear something for the second time, you catch new things. For instance, this year I started to notice how much longer the crucifixion story is than the resurrection part. I mean, the crucifixion part includes Judas's betrayal, the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Arrest, Herod's interrogation, Pilate's wife's dream, Pilate's interrogation, then the flogging, then the crucifixion. Whew, that's a lot. I went to see an Easter drama at my church, and it was like an hour and a half long, and they even cut stuff out. I also noticed that since I've been getting older, the story has meant more to me. Like when Jesus was praying in the garden to have the hour pass him by. It makes me think how human he is. He knows what's coming, and he doesn't want to go through all that pain. But he did it anyway.

On Palm Sunday the sermon at my church was about how people always jump from Palm Sunday to Easter and concentrate on the fun, celebratory stuff. But people avoid thinking about Good Friday. Well, I feel like this year, all I thought about was the Good Friday part.

I thought John Newton did a good job portraying Jesus' anguish in the garden.

I've been thinking about the Good Friday thing too. I actually have a song idea in my head about being sorry for focusing too much on the Good Friday and not the joy of the resurrection.
