Coupons...awesome

My birthday is coming up, and I love it when stores know it. Yesterday I received a coupon for Tasca, a tapas restaurant. I also got a birthday coupon from DSW. I'm still waiting for my Origins coupon. I'm almost out of blush, but I'm holding out for the coupon.

Last night I went to sewing class again. I missed a week since I was in Chicago, so I spent that weekend finishing up the skirt (see "I Made This" post). When I got to class last night, I was surprised to see that only one other girl finished her project. The other two were still finishing up. So I guess I didn't miss much after all. The good thing is I finished, but the bad thing is that since Ronnie wasn't there to walk me through the rest of the instructions, I kinda improvised. Everyone was pretty impressed that I finished though. And I said, "I have Eli-mi-date and Blind Date to thank. They kept me up late to work on it." My new project is going to be to make a cardigan. That way, I get the experience to make a complete outfit. I didn't have fabric with me though (the fabric stores around here have nothing!), so I worked on my PJ pants. I worked on it a lot last night.

Today is Ash Wednesday. I'm going to church tonight for service. I was thinking about what I would give up for Lent. Last year I gave up shopping for clothes and accessories. Big mistake. As soon as it was Easter, I went nuts and ended up spending so much more than if I had just shopped all along. No, bad idea. The year before, I gave up chips. But then I went to Texas and had the chance to have real Tex-Mex queso and tortillas. So I modified "chips" to "potato chips." Yeah yeah, I'm a cheater. This year for Lent, I decided I wouldn't completely deny myself anything, but concentrate more on moderation. I really need to save money for school and possibly a pre-orientation trip. So I'll stay away from Downtown Crossing and use the time to go to the gym. Good idea? Great idea!

Maybe you should pick up something for Lent rather than giving something up. Something that would help your faith grow like a Bible Study or extra church service or something.
