Finger Lakes trip
I had an awesome weekend! I went to Finger Lakes in New York with five of my high school friends to go on a wine tour. It's pretty far from Boston, but luckily, my friend Amanda picked me up and we kept each other company on the road. So the group was me and Amanda, Alyson, Julie, Suzanne and Erin. We hired a van for our wine tour on Saturday, and our driver Devon took us to 6 wineries. Now I'm totally not a drinker. In fact, I can't hold my liquor at all. But I was careful, and I even found wine I liked, which I bought and took back with me. Devon was such a good sport. We all took turns sitting shotgun chatting with him, and he carried all of our liquor. Among the 6 of us, we bought 31 bottles of wine!!! And yes, we took a picture with all the wine bottles. I bought three - two dessert wines and one red table wine. I kinda regret not buying the semi-dry Riesling at Dr. Konstantin Frank. That was generally my favorite wine at all the wineries, and that place had the best one. Four of the six wineries didn't charge for tastings, and the other two were only $1 and $2 to try 5 wines. What a cheap vacation.
Alyson was hardcore and actually brought a DVD player to plug into the hotel TV, so we all piled into one of the rooms and watched Ocean's Twelve to relax before dinner. I have to say, there are an awfully lot of good looking people in that movie. After dinner, we all hung out in the room again. We chatted, put on mud masks (which I got at Julie's Arbonne party), read some trivial pursuit questions to each other and played MASH. Does anyone else remember that game - Mansion, Apartment, Shack, House? It's been a while, so I only vaguely remembered it. Luckily, Suzanne remembered how to play, so we played for everyone. I can't believe how amusing that game still is. For spouse, we listed Devon on everybody's list and he didn't get picked once!!! Boo. I guess his girlfriend can have him. Anyway, I'm marrying Orlando Bloom in a paisley wedding dress and we're living in an apartment with a dog. The best one was Alyson's. She'll have hipster bangs and will be marrying Patrick Dempsey. They'll be living together in a shabby chic shack in Lebanon. Hahaha, that's great.
The trip was short, but I think it was worth it. It's weird, I don't get to see or talk to my high school friends much, but when we get together, I feel so close to them. I guess it's because we've known each other when we were awkward middle school/high school kids.
