Switchfoot rocks!

Finally being a Mix 98.5 freeloader all these years paid off. I went to see Switchfoot for free last night at the Roxy, and I took Annie with me. Besides our being the oldest people there, it was a good time. I'm always amazed at how teeny-boppers get to go to way more rock concerts than me, and I'm earning money now! I guess it's because when I was young, my parents were afraid of rock concerts, thinking everyone is crazy and immoral. Karen once wanted to go to REM, who are really really tame, and they said no.

Anyway, back to the concert. Switchfoot had two opening acts. The first one, I forget what they're called, but they were awful. The guy had this nasally, annoying voice. The next opening act was Eisley, who were pretty good. They're not very good in concert, I think they sound better on their CD, but it could've just been the acoustics. Anyway, Switchfoot was great! Most of the songs they played came from their newest album and the one right before, "The Beautiful Letdown," which I own. It was good, I guess, because I recognized most of their songs. But I was disappointed that they didn't play "Learning to Breathe," "You," or "Only Hope," which were on "A Walk to Remember." I guess either it's because they're soundtrack songs or because they're really old. Ok, Jonathan Foreman is not cute, but he is mad talented. And he didn't cheat on high notes. His voice was cracking pretty bad by the end, but it still sounded great. I bought their newest CD at the concert. $10, and no sales tax :) Anyway, I think Annie enjoyed the concert too, even though she didn't know any of the bands.

Yeah, they don't play a lot of their old stuff from their "Christian" days. They didn't even play a lot of them when they performed at Creation. We should go to a concert together someday. That would be fun.
